The fate of the West and the Italian case

Equality, Freedom, Well Being, we are convinced of knowing the meaning of these and many other terms that are indissolubly linked to the idea of progress and civilization. We have the presumption of being absolute and universal holders. But in the era of the free and global market it still makes sense to attribute these concepts to the West alone, when countries like Japan, Taiwan, Slovenia and South Korea are at the forefront of Sweden, France and Canada?
