and still in first place among newspapers.
In the ranking of the prestigious Reuters Institute, the newspaper records better performance than the FT and the Wall Street Journal in their respective countries. Il Sole 24 Ore with its online information is for the fifth consecutive year the first newspaper for reliability in Italy and in the ranking that includes all media it rises to 2nd place, behind only the Ansa.
This is said by the Reuters Institute, which in 2018 began measuring readers’ confidence in digital news magazines and has since always recorded Il Sole 24 Ore in the first three positions and first ever among newspapers. Among the reasons that may have contributed to the advancement to second place in 2022 certainly the great work both in the coverage of Covid (with the dashboards of Lab24 and the insights of 24+), as well as on the war in Ukraine and with the insights on macros – economic topics and national economic policy actions, including the Pnrr observatory.
Il Sole 24 Ore also outperformed other major international financial dailies: Financial Times ranks fourth in the UK and Wall Street Journal is fifth in the US; financial newspapers in France and Spain rank even lower. The online information quality certification comes from the Digital News Report of the Reuters Institute of the University of Oxford, now in its eleventh edition, which is part of the Trust in News Project and which this year has reached coverage of 46 national markets that they represent the majority of the world population.
For Il Sole 24 Ore, with its digital information also certified by the Trust Project, which defines the organizational processes for collecting and verifying news and the clear organization of the contents, it was once again a significant appreciation by Italian readers. A recognition also of the new digital formats and languages with which information is produced and distributed.
