The newspaper that was founded in 1861 (about 100 days after the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy) with the mission to defend the Papal State and its principles.

Since then, it has remained a newspaper of ideas, a source not only of information, but also of formation and, most of all, the only newspaper of the Holy See.
